HNK Hajduk Split has received an official offer from Belgian club Genk for midfielder Nika Sigura worth around four million euros. The offer is close to the amount Hajduk is seeking for the player, and a transfer could be finalised after Hajduk's return leg against Raków in the Conference League playoffs, scheduled for Thursday at 19:00. Sigura, who is 22, has scored nine goals and provided five assists for Hajduk this season in just four HNL matches, with the team currently on seven points and sitting fourth in the table, two points behind leaders Dinamo Zagreb. His next fixture is against NK Lokomotiva Zagreb at home on Saturday, August 31st. Previously linked with Celtic, Valencia and Toulouse this summer, Genk finished seventh in the Belgian Pro League last season and will not compete in European competitions this season. Their record transfer remains the signing of Rafiu Durosinmija from Pisa for 10.5 million euros, and if Sigura joins for four million, he would rank among the club’s 20 highest ever transfers. Genk was founded in 1988 following a merger of two clubs, plays home matches at the Cegeka Arena with 23,000 seats, and has won the Belgian league four times and the cup five times. Sigura’s contract with Hajduk runs until summer 2028, and the club is not under pressure to sell on the first bid, expecting a multi-million euro compensation. His Transfermarkt valuation stands at four million euros, and he returned to Hajduk’s preparations after playing for Canada at the World Cup, followed by mandatory rest and joining the squad only at the end of July. Born in Canada to Croatian parents, Sigura moved to Hajduk’s Slovenian affiliate Radomlje four years ago, and after one year there, he was promoted to Hajduk’s senior team, for whom he has made 120 appearances, scoring five goals and providing five assists. Both Hajduk and Sigura agree it is time for the next step in his career, and interest from other clubs could drive up the final fee in the closing days of the transfer window. This context, combined with Hajduk’s recent form of two wins, one draw and one loss (WWDL) in their last four matches, provides insight into the potential outcome.
