HNK Hajduk Split is a football club that was founded in Prague in February 1911. The first team played its first official match on June 11, 1911, against Calcio Spalato. After months of preparation, purchasing uniforms and arranging the field at the former military training ground called Kraljeva njiva, the day arrived for the first official match. The opponent was Calcio Spalato, a club of local Split Italians. Andrija Gazdić and Ivan Kraljević were among the players who played for Hajduk. The match was a matter of national and city pride, not just a measurement of strength in football. Hajduk played in a lineup: Buchberger, Namar, Zappa, Bonetti, Granić, Fakač, Kraljević, Cotić, Gazdić, Bedalov and Raunig. So, the first official match was an important step in the club's history. But, it was just the beginning. The match was played at Stari plac, which was the host of many football matches at the time. The players were thrilled to be able to play for their club and city. After the match, the players returned to the locker room and discussed the match. Kraljević said that the match was tough, but that they gave it their all. Gazdić added that they learned a lot from that match and that they would improve.
