Overview of Ex-Yugoslav Countries' Performance

This summer has seen a mixed bag of performances from football teams representing former Yugoslav countries in UEFA competitions. While some teams managed to progress further than expected, others struggled significantly.

Montenegro

Montenegrin football clubs ended their European season with 10 consecutive defeats, setting a new record as the first country to suffer such a streak in a single UEFA competition season. This summer will be remembered for this historic achievement.

Croatia

Croatia has three representatives left in the third round of Champions League qualifiers. Dinamo Zagreb secured their place after defeating Thun 4:3 on aggregate, and Hajduk Split also qualified from the Europa League after a tough victory against Paphos. However, Hajduk's journey was challenging, as they narrowly won the first match at Poljud but lost the second leg in Cyprus.

Hajduk Split's Journey

Hajduk represented Croatia in the Europa League. The team managed to overcome Žilina 3:2 in the first round. In the second round, they faced Paphos, a former Champions League participant. Despite winning the first match at Poljud (2:0), Hajduk conceded a goal in the 92nd minute of the second leg and then lost in extra time.

Hajduk will continue their European adventure in the third round of the Conference League qualifiers, facing Žalgiris Vilnius. This is an impressive feat for the Split team as they secured participation in one of the three UEFA competitions.
