Former HNK Hajduk Split manager Gennaro Gattuso is excelling in Italy, leading Lazio to the top of Serie A. Gattuso's side is level on points with Inter and Roma at the summit, all on 13 points after five matches.
In the fifth round, Lazio secured an important 2-0 away win against Venezia. The opening goal came from Mattia Zaccagni's penalty in the 51st minute, and Tijjani Noslin doubled the lead nine minutes later. Croatian defender Josip Šutalo played the full match for Lazio, while his compatriots Toma Bašić, Bartol Franjić and Marin Šverko remained unused substitutes.
Gennaro Gattuso took over at Lazio after a brief and unsuccessful stint as head coach of the Italian national team. Prior to that, he spent one season in charge of Hajduk, leading them to a third-place finish in the HNL two seasons ago. His work in Split is now proving to be a solid foundation for success in the elite Italian league.
Meanwhile, Hajduk is in excellent form and leads the HNL table with 16 points from seven games. The team has won its last five matches, with the next challenge being an away fixture against Rijeka.
