The club from Poljud enters this phase of the competition in excellent form. Besides Hajduk, other top-tier clubs have also qualified for the round of 16. These include the leading Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, as well as Istra 1961, Slaven Belupo, Varaždin, Lokomotiva, Gorica, and Rudeš. The biggest sensation of the previous round was achieved by Segesta from Sisak. The second-division side defeated the top-flight club Osijek 3:1 at home and eliminated them from further competition. That is undoubtedly the biggest upset so far in this year's edition of the cup.

Unlike some other cup competitions, the Croatian Football Cup does not hold a new draw for each phase. The pairings for the round of 16 were predetermined after matches played on Tuesday and Wednesday, based on competition numbers or cup coefficients. This means the path to the final is already mapped out for all clubs. For Hajduk, on that path, in case of advancement, any of the remaining seven pairs in the quarter-finals could have been drawn.

The complete list of pairings for the Croatian Cup round of 16 looks like this. Bjelovar or Karlovac 1919 will play against Vrbovec or Rijeka. Vukovar 1991 awaits Dinamo Zagreb. Hajduk Split travels to Požega for a match against Slavonija. Mladost Ždralovi will face Slaven Belupo. The winner of the match between Kustošija and BSK Bijelo Brdo will play against Gorica. Rudeš hosts Segesta, and Varaždin will battle Lokomotiva. The final pair consists of Istra 1961 and Neretva. The current placement of all top-tier clubs in the competition can be followed on the standings page.

The first step towards that goal in the Cup will be precisely the match against Slavonija Požega. All necessary information about the team squad is available on the squad page.
