Supporters of HNK Hajduk Split have launched a widespread campaign demanding a new stadium and equal treatment for Split compared to Zagreb. The action was initiated by Hajduk Friends Societies across Croatia and joined by the fan association Naš Hajduk.
The campaign's slogan is 'A new stadium for Hajduk. Stop centralization!' Fans point out that both Poljud and Maksimir are declared sports facilities of national interest, but the financing conditions differ. While the costs for Maksimir's renovation are split 50:50 between the City of Zagreb and the state, Hajduk's supporters demand their club gets equal opportunities to build a new home.
"Hajduk supporters and visitors to Poljud do not want to be second-class citizens. Equality is the foundation, and Split is Croatia just like Zagreb," said Naš Hajduk.
The campaign includes placing banners across Dalmatia, from the Makarska riviera and Imotski to Benkovac, and coordinated social media actions. The goal is to warn about infrastructure problems and send a clear message that Split must not be neglected.
This initiative comes as Hajduk sits 4th in the HNL with 10 points from five games. The team is in good form with three wins and two draws in its last five matches, with the next challenge being an away fixture against Istra 1961 on October 24th.
"At the end of every injustice stood people who raised their voices." the association added. The supporters emphasize they are seeking a long-term solution, not temporary fixes. The current league standings can be followed on the standings page.
