Hajduk Split defeated Žalgiris 5:2 in the first match of the third qualifying round for the Conference League. The game took place in Vilnius and was marked by goals from Michele Šeg (5', 44'), Adrion Pajaziti (56'), Dalisson (73') and Rokas Pukštys (75'). For Žalgiris, Nikola Petković (35') and former Hajduk player Marko Capan (86') scored.

The coach of the visiting team, Andrius Skerla, commented on the game and its challenges:

"Firstly, I would like to thank all our fans who came to the stadium today. This was a tough match. Although we lost, we felt their support. Hajduk is a very strong team. We saw the difference in quality between them and us. They scored several fantastic goals. The result didn't go our way, but we could take some good things from this defeat. Our defensive mistakes were punished by Hajduk", Skerla said.

Praised Pukštys

"We can play better, but we need a bit of luck, which you can't always rely on. We played against a much stronger team that was focused right from the start and didn't underestimate us", Skerla added during the press conference, then continued:

"Pukštys is an excellent player who understands football and knows how to find space. He almost always makes good decisions with the ball. But he's not just him. Hajduk has a bunch of players who have shown us how football should be played. We will try to surprise them in Split.
